sealer stain This is simply a sealer finish (for which see listing above), to which a stain has been added so that you can stain and seal the wood at the same time. They are very satisfactory, and the easiest of all finishes to apply. They come in all the standard wood colors, and are usually sold for floors but work fine on furniture. Apply the same way as described in listing for sealer finish. When you first apply sealer stain to some porous woods, the result may look very blotchy, but don’t worry about this as the color will even out as the sealer dries. As with clear sealers, you can also shellac or varnish over sealer stains, and a sealer stain with varnish over it is an excellent two-application finish for tabletops. None better.
